Charles Burgess

Charles Earl Burgess was born onJuly 8, 1895 in Noblesville, Hamilton, Indiana, USA to parents Joseph Burgess (1858-1909) and Elizabeth "Lizzy" Heaton (1861-1903). He had siblings Claud Heaton Burgess (1882-1949), Nellie Marie Geiger (1885-1961), Orville Johnson Burgess (1887-1961), Harry J. Burgess (1890-1973), and Elmer Alden Burgess (1897-1914). He lost both parents at a young age and stayed with his older brother and his family until he reached maturity. Charles was drafted and served in the US Army as a flyer during WWI. He served from October 4, 1917 until his discharge on April 4, 1919. When Charles returned from the war, he worked as a stunt flyer, "wing-walker",and daredevil aerialist primarily in TN and MS. Charles was also employed at the Strawboard Corp., in Noblesville, Indiana and later worked at and retired from the Mead Corp where he worked in Nashville, Tenn.
