2015 obituary. PORTLAND - Doris K. Barron, 92, passed away on Feb. 8, 2015, at the home of her son and daughter-in-law in Maryland. She was born on Sept. 11, 1922, to the late Charles and Myrtle Rapp Kemery in Carpenterville, N.J. Doris graduated from Phillipsburg High School in New Jersey and Easton Hospital School of Nursing in Easton, Pa. Upon graduating from nursing school, she became a Navy nurse serving in a Naval hospital in Philadelphia, Pa., before being assigned to Camp LeJeune, N.C. She met her future husband John while serving in the Navy and they were married in 1947. After an honorable discharge from the Navy, she attended Bowling Green State University in Ohio, where she majored in English. She moved to Laurel, Md., in 1947 and became a communicant at St. Mary of the Mills Church where she later became involved with the Ladies of Charity. She worked in the office of the late Robert Wingfield, M.D., as an office nurse for over 30 years. She loved playing cards, travelling and spending summers at the family home on Great Diamond Island in Portland. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, John M. Barron; sister, Evelyn Redos; and brother Vincent Kemery. She is survived by her children. She is also survived by eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, Feb. 14, 2015, from 9-11 a.m. at Conroy-Tully Crawford Funeral Home, 172 State St., Portland, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment, with military honors, will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Broadway, South Portland.
