From Jul 27, 1937, to Jul 26, 1940, he served in Coast Artillery Corps as Private First Class, achieving honorable discharge. During WWII (Jul 27, 1940 - Oct 13, 1945), he became Master Sergeant in Army Air Corps Band 62nd C.A. (AA). He advanced through ranks, received medals, and played vital roles in military bands.
