Jacob Hirtel Gravesite

He was born into the Hertel family, but DID NOT marry into the Hirtel family. His father changed the spelling of their surname AFTER Jacob was born. Therefore, his birth records are under the spelling of Hertel, and the rest of his records are under the spelling of Hirtel. Jacob married his sister in-law, Arretta (Bullock) Hirtel after his brother, Christian, was tragically killed. They were married until his death. They never had any children together but he did help raise his brother’s three children.
