My old San Francisco friend Jeffrey Peter Brown (went by "Jeff") died of AIDS complications on March 9, 1989 -- exactly 25 years ago yesterday -- at the age of 32. I went on a 4-month drinking binge after my partner/lover Lavoy died in May 1988, but then quit and started regularly attending AA meetings in the Castro area of San Francisco (where I lived back then). That's where I met Jeff. He was a very sweet, kind and good person and even stayed with me briefly as his mental and physical condition deteriorated. I miss you, Jeff. I guess I'll be seeing you soon enough. At least, I hope so.
