Home made dresses were not that unusual, even when I was a child...of course, now-a-days fabric has become so expensive, it's actually cheaper to buy off the rack.....

I'm inclined to agree....although all the girls in my family have reached an age where they don't care for home made...at least as far as clothing goes...haha

My mom and grandma made most of my school clothes back in the 60's. My 2nd grade teacher told mom that I was too well dressed!

I think it is. . The oldest eyes make me think so..
No, children were often helped to stand straight with these stands. It took a long time to make a photo then.

A postmortem photo? Sure looks like a stand holding her and her eyes look off a little bit.

I'm thinking no. The one standing hand is fisted. Not usual for post mortem.

I've seen a lot of post mortem photos and this does not look like those at all. Remember photography required holding a pose for about three minutes.. (long time!) that is why the younger one is on the chair.

I have pictures of my sister and I like that. In home made clothes that our Mother made with love.
This is not a postmortem photo. Both Sadie and her sister Pearl grew up and had children of their own.
Both Sadie and her sister grew up and got married. Pearl moved out West.
