Samuel Hugh Francklin Hole, 1920
A photo of Samuel Hugh Francklin Hole (1862-1948) - Barrister, author and soldier from Caunton Manor, Newark, Nottinghamshire. This photograph was taken for The First Boy Scouts International Jamboree at Olympia, London. Hugh Hole acted as Commissioner in charge of events in the arena. Squire of Caunton, Captain Hole who fought in the Boer War, joined the Indian Army as an interpreter and served with the Lahore Division in France 1914, 1915. A member of the British Peerage, son of the Very Reverend Samuel Reynolds Hole, married Geraldine Markham (1889), their daughter was Bridget Hole (Lady Tallents).
