He was a capt. In Waller's 13th Tx. Cavalry during the civil war. He enlisted in Falls co. As it was his residence. Two of his sons served in the 19th Tx cavalry Regt. A brother, "Raleigh-Rolly" served with Ross's Tx Brigade, also.
