My uncle Mac was a kind, quiet man. He helped my mother buy her first house in Glendale, AZ, after the divorce, searching for a good one and lending her the money for a down payment. He filled in as a father for his nieces. He taught me to swim and took me horse back riding and hunting with his kids. He gave away my sister Shelley on her wedding day and remained close to her family after she married and had children of her own. My cousins say he was a great father and husband. I remember him as a tall, strong and manly man. He was in the U.S. Marines in WWII. This photo came from his son, Rick McCarter, and is used with permission by him.
