William Walker
William Walker was a lawyer and journalist, as well as an "adventurer." He organized a private military group to go into Latin America and create english speaking colonies ruled by him (this was called "filibustering" at the time).
He was President of Nicaragua for two years until a coalition of central american armies captured him. He was executed by Honduras in 1860.
