The cast of the Mickey Mouse club plus creator Walt Disney. The original Mickey Mouse Club ran from 1955 - 1959. Very few families had television sets then. I remember when we moved to Cupertino CA when I was 5, my mother invited all of the neighborhood kids over to see the Mickey Mouse show so that we could meet them. Of course, Annette Funicello was the heroine, but I loved Tim Considine. I loved it when Spin and Marty were on.

This is a group picture of the children of Edward Isaac Brownlow and Elizabeth Elvira Skipper Brownlow's children that survived to adulthood. The couple had 15 children, one set of twins. Edward Isaac Brownlow fathered a total of 24 children with his first wife and my great-grandmother, Elizabeth. From left to right: Alvis Ruth Rumbo, Mairl Vivien Kirk, Willie Jessamine Gossett, Jack Brownlow (Baptist minister), Euna Brownlow Denton, Guy Edward Brownlow (he lived to be in his 90's and was the last surviving child alive), Oscar Lawrence Brownlow (farmed at Abernathy, Texas, very successfully - died of heart attack at age 60), and Erskin Brownlow. The family lived in East Texas and then moved to Eldorado, Oklahoma, where they farmed for a number of years. The parents, Edward Isaac and Elizabeth Brownlow, are buried at Antioch Cemetery, near Eldorado, Jackson County, Oklahoma. All are now deceased.

This is a picture of my great-aunt, Mairl Brownlow Kirk, and her husband, Ross Kirk. This couple was very kind to the entire extended family. My mother lived with them 7 years and my father boarded with him when he went to Texas Tech University. They were the most giving people in the world and always shared whatever they had. Ross died unexpectedly at age 53, leaving Mairl with a son (about 16) and a daughter, age 5. Mairl worked at home as a hairdresser to raise her children. Her son worked part-time jobs as well as going to school. Mairl was the daughter of Edward Isaac Brownlow and Elizabeth Elvira Skipper Brownlow. Mairl lived to be in her 80's and died at home watching t.v.

This is my Aunt Mairl Vivien Brownlow Kirk at our wedding in Canyon, Texas, at Joseph A. Hill Chapel on January 8, 1972. She was a beloved family member to all of the family. She married Ross Kirk and had two children. She was born 26 Feb 1908 in Eldorado, Jackson County, Oklahoma, to Edward Isaac Brownlow and Elizabeth Skipper Brownlow. The family was large with 24 children from 2 marriages of Edward Isaac but not all children lived to adulthood. Mairl worked and lived in Lubbock, Texas, and after she was widowed at a young age, she raised her 2 children alone. She died 4 Oct 1992 at her home at 2804 41st, Lubbock, Texas. She is buried in Resthaven Memorial Park, Lubbock, Texas.

This is a class from Garrison School, 1962-63. The teachers are Nettie Thompson (far left) and Miss Kinkaid (far right). (I believe Miss Kinkaid was the main teacher and Ms Thompson was the secondary as the photos were ordered "Kinkaid 22") Please see the other photos I've posted with the same teacher/s at the same school, different years (look under special collections, School Days). Two are id.ed as 4th and 5th grades with the same teacher/s, so I presume the others are also. I have posted all the names below, starting with front row left to right, then middle row, then back row. This photo was part of a lot of photos received from a person in Kansas, who got them from another person who collected them from numerous estate sales throughout Kansas and Oklahoma. I did a web search for a Garrison School in Kansas or Oklahoma and there seem to be several. I have written to one. There are also others across the US and Canada. I can't guarantee which one it might be. If anyone can tell me, I would be delighted. I hope the names will give a clue to someone. Also, it may be in the same district or county as a “Cleaveland School” which is mentioned on one of the class photos.

I have posted all the names below, starting with front row left to right, then middle, then back row. I have also listed one child who was "absent with mumps," at the end of the list, as the info might help to i.d. the school.
