William "Jab" Knight was born in Cedarville, Arkansas. He was the second son born to Mack Lee and Maggie Vina Hinds Knight. He grew up in Van Buren, Arkansas where he attended Douglas school and later Lincoln High School in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. He was a devoted member of the Mission Point Missionary Baptist Church, where he served on the Board of Deacons, President of the Brotherhood and a Sunday school teacher. During WWII he served in the United States Navy and was stationed at Great Lakes Naval Training Center in Illinois and Corpus Christi, Texas. He retired from the Missouri-Pacific Railroad Co. In 1938, He married Grace Ann Simpson. They had three daughters. William Ann Knight, Ruth Marietta Knight, Wanda Knight Grace enjoyed 36 years before she preceded him in death in 1974. In 1977 he wed Beatrice Jones. He died on a Wednesday on September 15, 1999.

Knight and Grace A. Simpson Knight in Van Buren, Arkansas, January 17, 1944. She received her early education at St. John's Catholic School in Fort Smith, Arkansas and Douglas Elementary School in Van Buren, Arkansas. She attended Van Buren junior High and graduated from Van Buren Senior High School in 1964. Ann was the first African American female to integrate the junior high school. Because of her great desire to help others, Ann chose to attend Spark's School of Practical Nursing and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. Ann professed belief in the Lord at a very early age at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Van Buren, Arkansas and continued her Christian faith throughout her life. She united with Albert Lawson in holy matrimony in 1962. To this union four daughters were born: Juanita; Sherri, Shawna and Tenaya. She was preceded in death by her mother Grace A. Knight and her father William J. Knight. She leaves to cherish her memories; Albert Lawson of Georgia; Juanita Lawson of Florida Sherri and Tenaya of Virginia; Shawna Maldonado (Leonardo) of Delaware; grandchildren; Sonne Lawson, Kenneth Terrell, Paris Davis and her son Ja-neeka Davis; two sisters; Wanda Hamilton of Little Rock, Arkansas and Ruth Purter (Joe) of Newport News, Virginia; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
