article read: Craftsman Proud of his Iron Ornamental Work. John Brooks 80 year old pioneer blacksmith forsees a future for his "lost" trade if the war last very long. .... Mr and Mrs Brooks are the oldest couple in the L.D.S. Second Ward. "I used to work on the old Utah Central Line. I made the first "frogs" for the Denver & Rio Grande Western Railroad after the line came into Salt Lake. ........Mrs. Brooks was born February 22, 1864 in Great Britain. She came to Utah in 1878
