He married Eleanor Roosevelt on March 17, 1945, and they were married until Franklin's death on April 12, 1945. He had children Anna Eleanor Roosevelt, Jr., James Roosevelt, Franklin Delano Roosevelt Jr., Elliot Roosevelt, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, Jr., and John Aspinwall Roosevelt. Franklin Roosevelt was buried on April 15, 1945 at Home of Franklin D. Roosevelt National Historic Site 4097 Albany Post Rd, in Hyde Park, Dutchess County, NY.

On this day in 1932, FDR announced that he was running for President. We're used to seeing him in a wheelchair but in this 1920 photo (when he was Assistant Secretary of the Navy and in full health) you can see how tall he was. A year after the photo, he contracted polio (or perhaps, as it is thought now Guillain–Barré syndrome).
