  • Introduction

WEDDERBURN. December, 1937. Last Friday night the death occured of an old and respected resident of Wedderburn in the person of Mr. James Drysdale, the sad event occurred in the Inglewood Hospital, of which institution he had been a patient for only a little over a week. He had reached the grand old age of 83 years. The deceased was an engine driver, and worked at the old Wedderburn Flour Mill, in that capacity and later on saw milling plants at the local railway station. He was noted for his sterling character and for his charitable actions towards his fellows. But for many years he had suffered from chronic cardiac trouble and was forced to lead a very quiet life. His cheerful outlook however was retained to the last, and his mentality was not impaired, so his companionship was not distressing to his friends, as in the case often with the approach of great age. The remains were interred at the Wedderburn Cemetery on Sunday afternoon, the funeral cortege being composed of a number of friends of the family and relations. Pastor Bird conducted the graveside service. The bearers were Messrs. William and J. Drysdale (sons) W. Ray and N. Drysdale (Grandsons), A. Hiddleston and R. Baker (sons in law). Mr. Les Appleby of Inglewood carried out the motuary arrangements. The Age, Melbourne. 4th December 1937. DRYSDALE. - On November 26, beloved husband of Annie Drysdale, of Wedderburn, loving father of Dave, Emily ( Mrs. Hiddleston ), Jim, Will, Fred ( deceased ), and Ada ( Mrs. Baker ) Aged 82 years. - Peace, perfect peace.
