Frederick Drysdale died at age 22 years old on September 20, 1917 in Belgium, and was buried in September 1917 at Tyne Cot Cemetery - Passchendaele, in Zonnebeke, West Flanders County, Flanders.

DRYSDALE.- Killed in action in France, 20th September, Private Frederick Cairns Drysdale, dearly beloved youngest son of James and Annie Drysdale, Wedderburn, and loving brother of Emily, Ada, Dave, Jim and Will. A credit to his uniform, Our hero fell, and so we mourn. Mr. and Mrs. Drysdale and family desire to thank their many friends for their expressions of sympathy,visits,letters and cards in their recent sad bereavement. (The Wedderburn Express 20 October 1917) In Memoriam. DRYSDALE.--In sad and loving memory of our dear son and brother,Private Fred C. Drysdale,killed in action in France on 20th September 1917.
