Frederick Thomas Drysdale of Croydon, VIC Australia was born in 1919 in Wedderburn to William Frederick Drysdale and Charlotte Amelia (Edwards) Drysdale. He had siblings Christopher William Drysdale, Arthur Frederick Walter Drysdale, Hazel Melba (Drysdale) Ray, and Alice Amelia (Drysdale) Simms. He married Edith May (Giddings) Drysdale, and had children Elaine Edith (Drysdale) Boynton, William Thomas Drysdale, and Judith Elinor Drysdale. Frederick Drysdale died at age 63 years old on November 21, 1983 at Alfred Hospital in Prahran, and was buried on November 27, 1983 at Wedderburn Cemetery in Wedderburn.

In 1919, in the year that Frederick Thomas Drysdale was born, in January, Nebraska was the 36th state to ratify the 18th Amendment, making it the law of the land. The 18th Amendment established Prohibition - a law against the production, transport, and sale of alcohol. Private consumption and possession were not prohibited. Several months later, the Volstead Act was passed, creating laws to enforce the Amendment. Bootlegging and bathtub gin followed.

Previously right hand man to boss Johnny Torrio, Capone took over when Torrio was shot and severely injured and decided to resign.
