J. W. Johnson Minstrel Show - Virginia
J. W. Johnson Minstrel Show - Virginia: An advertisement for a Minstrel Show in 1921. The ad says that the show is "clean and moral" for "ladies and children."
The show is J.W. Johnson's Old Reliable Virgina Minstrels, World's Best Colored Show, the show that is different.
I know that this is offensive but it was such a short time ago that people did this. It IS a different show! But in reading up on minstrel shows of this time, I found that blacks and whites both worked in these shows so perhaps they were pioneers of integration.
