Family legend has it heat Electus was an S.O.B- mean and as strong as two men. "He was a connoisseur of drug store booze" Yates City Banner, Yates City Illinois.

In Yates City: He is alleged to have killed a man at the Yates City RailRoad Station by smashing a lit lantern over the victim's head and burning him. The fight was due to an altercation between one of Electus' Grandsons who was selling News papers and the victim had bothered his Grandson sufficiently to take revenge. All of Electus' sons left home because Electus was so mean. According to oral story told by William Dennis Aley 1982.
