Gravestone of Samuel James Palmer
Restored gravestone of Samuel James Palmer(1821-1877)located in Pioneer Cemetery, Palmyra, Nebraska. (See the before & after snapshots of the restoration at the Vallis-Palmer-Ross family page/recent snapshots.) Samuel James Palmer was born in Swanbourne, Buckinghamshire England. In 1844, Samuel married Mary Coy in the Parish of Little Horwood in Buckinghamshire. They moved to Australia where their two sons, Samuel James and Charles William were born, then returned to Swanbourne. In the late 1860's the Palmers immigrated to Palmyra, Nebraska. On April 4, 1877 (not long before Samuel's death on August 5, 1877), his Palmyra homestead was proved. Engraved on stone: Not Lost But Gone Before.
