Irwin Schenk
Irwin Schenk was born in 1871 near Waterloo, Iowa, and of German parents. He received his early education in the country school and at the age of 19 taught in the same. Three years later he entered the State Normal and graduated in 1896 with the degree of B. Di. Later he entered the State University of Iowa and graduated from the science dept. in 1899 with the degree of B.S. In 1900 he took his last year of the medical course in the New York Homeopathic Medical College and graduated that spring. He then spent six months in the clinics of Berlin, studying General Diagnosis. In 1901 he started to practice medicine in Des Moines, Iowa. Again in 1903 he took a second clinical course in Berlin and limited it to the Diseases of the Skin and Nervous System. He was president of the Homeopathic Medical Society, a member of the Hahnemann Medical Association of Iowa and a member of the American Institue of Homeopathy. In the fall of 1910 he accepted the position of Professor of Theory and Practice in the College of Homeopathic Medicine, State University of Iowa.
