World War 1, the Mexican Revolution, the Russian Revolution, the Easter Rising in Ireland . . . the sinking of the Titanic and the Lusitania. Spanish flu killed well over 20 million people world wide in 1918. And, in 1919, Prohibition was passed in the United States. This wasn't a decade for the faint of heart!

A photo of my great-great grandmother, Sudie Virgil Nichols, at the age of 20 years old.

Titanic survivor Molly Brown - the "unsinkable Molly Brown". Margaret Tobin Brown was on the Titanic on its maiden voyage when it hit an iceberg. She made the crew of lifeboat 6 return to try to find other survivors, giving rise to the legend of a spunky, vocal woman. But then, she was all of that. Though both her husband and she were born of Irish immigrants, they rose to wealth and never forgot their roots. Debbie Reynolds played Molly Brown in the movie musical "The Unsinkable Molly Brown". Iroquois Indians in Buffalo New York in 1914. This was a panoramic photo, put together in two parts, so I split the photo back into two parts. While it is difficult to see the faces, the photo gives a wonderful sense of what life was like for these people. It looks to be the dead of winter.
