Daniel Pinna:
A photo of Ethel Granger, who had the smallest waist size in recent history measuring in at 36-13-39.
She first put on a corset to please her husband, astronomer William Arnold Granger. And then he bought smaller and smaller corsets, asking her to wear them 24 hours a day - she complied. Her beginning waist size was 23 inches.
She made the Guinness Book of Records and was the record holder until 1998, when they changed the category to "Woman alive with the smallest waist".

I have an old studio photograph of Bessie Pearl HUNTRESS which is dated 7 Apr 1884 and was taken at the L. Dowe Studio in San Francisco, CA. She appears to be about 1-2 years old at the time the photograph was taken. The photograph also appears to have been gifted "To Mrs. BLACKWELL". Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding Bessie and her family:
Bessie Pearl HUNTRESS was b. 16 Feb 1883 in San Francisco, CA to parents Oscar Peter HUNTRESS (1847-1910) and Harriet “Hattie” E. G. SPENCER (1862-1910) who were married 6 May 1882 in San Jose, CA. Bessie was one of 6 children born to this couple including Bessie Pearl; Baby Girl; Mary Dolores; Georgia or Georgianna Lulu or Lula; Baby Boy; and Helen or Henrietta Harriet HUNTRESS, all born between 1883 and 1895. Bessie’s father had a child from an earlier marriage, Herbert Channing HUNTRESS (1869-1930).
Bessie married James B. or E. CAMERON (1877-1913) on 21 Jan 1904 in San Jose, CA and they had four children including Adelaide “Ada” or “Addie” Bessie; Alfred; Lauder or Lander Charles; and Christina CAMERON, all born between 1906 and 1909. Bessie also married a second time to Raymond “Ray” Martin GILBERT (1882-1981) on 29 May 1918 in San Francisco, CA. Bessie died 22 Nov 1953 in Santa Clara County, CA.

In the time just before WW1, a crude bus line was established to link Pittsburgh's suburb of Emsworth, Pennsylvania with the somewhat affluent community of Ben Avon Heights.
The primitive transit link connected the Emsworth Station of the Pennsylvania Railroad ((with regular local passenger trains operationing to and from Pittsburgh as well as westward to Beaver County, PA)) and the countless homes where many of the riders worked as maids. Hence the local run came to be referred to as "The Maid's Bus".
This bus also made further connections in Emsworth, PA with electric "T" trolleys operating as run #13-EMSWORTH. Countless home attendants connected from the trolleys or trains in Emsworth to their jobs.
The run continued to serve riders into the pre-PRT era as Port Authority route #20A BEN AVON HEIGHTS until 1970.

I have an old studio photograph of Josephine Collier ETTER – POWELL dated 1900 and taken at the C. F. Conly Studio in Boston, MA. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding Josephine and her family:
Josephine Collier ETTER was b. 23 Nov 1876 in Mount Joy, PA to parents Rev. John Wesley ETTER (1846-1895) and Sarah Elizabeth COLLIER (1851-1900). Josephine married twice, first to William G. POWELL who she married on 18 Jan 1897 in Greenup County, KY and second to Charles Elmer HOLMES (1863-1926) on 15 Jun 1903.

I have an old studio photograph of Emery Rice DANIELS which was taken at the Swartz studio in Stuart, IA. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1880's with Emery likely in his 60's at the time. He is also identified as "LaVelle's Great Grandfather". Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding Emery and his family:
Emery Rice DANIELS was b. 13 Oct 1822 in Windsor, MA to parents Eliphalet DANIELS (1797-1861) and Amanda RICE (1800-1839) who were married 15 Sept 1821 in Conway, MA. Emery was one of 7 children born to this couple including Emery Rice; William Cullen; Amanda R.; Amond; Charles Franklin; and Eliphalet DANIELS Jr., all born between 1822 and 1832. Emery’s father was married previously and had one additional son, Aviery DANIELS (b. 1819).
Emery married twice, first to Ellen WEAR (1825-1852) on 15 Jun 1848 in Peoria, IL and they had two children including Amanda Ellen DANIELS SHERMAN (1849-1939) and Laura C. DANIELS MURRAY (1852-1938). His second marriage was to Phebe or Pheobe S. STILLMAN (1829-1913) on 3 Mar 1853 in Peoria, IL and they had 8 children including Charles Franklin; Orlando Sherman; Sylvester Joseph; Baby Boy; Adoniram Judson; Leroy Emery; Dexter; and Lovica “Lollie” DANIELS, all born between 1854 and 1868.
Emery died 14 Apr 1902 in Azusa, CA and is buried in the Oakdale Memorial Park Cemetery in Glendora, CA.

I have an old studio photograph of Fred LOVELL of Syracuse, NY which was taken at the Winter's Studio in Syracuse, NY. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1880's or 1890's with Fred appearing to be in his 30's at the time the photograph was taken. Fred is identified as "Uncle" and notes also indicate "Ida B. SMITH sister" and Fannie LOVELL married Fred LOVELL". Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding Fred and his family:
Frederick “Fred” Spaulding LOVELL was b. July 1860 or 1862 in Kane County, IL to parents Hiram McLallen LOVELL (1836-1912) and Frances E. SPAULDING (1839-1920) who were married in Montour Falls, NY in 1859. Fred had one sibling, a sister Mary “Matie” or “Mattie” L. LOVELL BECKER (1864-1936). Fred married Fannie Mae WALKER (1862-1951 dau of Margaret WALKER) in 1888 in Syracuse, NY and was a Clothing Manufacturer in Syracuse. Fred died 7 Sept 1927 in Syracuse, NY and is buried in the Grove Cemetery in Trumansburg, NY.

I have an old studio photograph of Myrtle CASTNER which was taken at the A. B. de GROAT Studio in Bath, NY. The photograph appears to have been taken in the early 1900's with Myrtle likely in her 20's at the time. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding Myrtle and her family:
Mary Myrtle FLEET was b. 9 May 1889 in Schuyler County, NY to parents Daniel Edgar FLEET (b. 1846) and Lucinda GOLTRY or GAULTRY or GOLTRA (b. 1852). Myrtle was one of 8 children born to this couple including Delphene or Dellaphene; Vincent Conklin; Julia E.; Cora Mae; Jesse Paul; John W.; Emerson Bisale; and Mary Myrtle FLEET, all born between 1872 and 1889. Myrtle married Clarence Alvin CASTNER (1894-1964) on 17 Jun 1914 in Orange, NY and they had a daughter, Clara Lucille CASTNER KELLY(1918-1993).
Myrtle died 22 Aug 1967 in New York and is buried in the Rural Cemetery in Hornell, NY.
