George J. Galloway
I have an old studio photograph of George J. GALLOWAY of Lycippus, PA. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1870's with George likely in his teens at the time it was taken. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding George and his family:
George J. GALLAWAY or GALLOWAY was b. in May 1862 in Pennsylvania to parents William GALLAWAY or GALLOWAY (1817-1891) and Anna Margaret WALTER or WALTERS (1818-1893). George was one of 14 children born to this couple including David; Cathren or Catherine; Christian; Mary Jane; Amanda; Emma “Emely” Idell; Henry W.; John; Anna M.; Margaret “Maggie” M.; Margaret; Martha Amelia; Joseph A.; and George J. GALLOWAY, all born between 1840 and 1862.
George married Anna Catherine PIERCE (b. 1863) in 1880, and they had three children including Mary Etta GALLAWAY STRUBLE (1881 or 1882-1948); William Aquila GALLOWAY (b. 1884); and Grover Cleveland GALLOWAY (1893-1945). George died 13 Feb 1925 in Pittsburgh, PA and he is buried in a cemetery in Greensburg, PA.
I’d like to get the photograph to a family member and would appreciate you contacting me if you are a member of this family or know someone who might be.
Thanks,
Shelley
