This is a photo of my maternal grandfather, Jerry Esais Graves. He was the son of Lucinda Ann Brandon and John Willis Graves. Lucinda was the daughter of a free white woman named Maria Mason and a man named Brandon. He had a brother named William Royal Graves, a brother Brandon who died in the early 1900's in a car accident and a sister named Safronia Graves. Safronia never married and died in 1980 in NYC.
