My 3rd great-grand parents, Joseph Scott McCulley and Jane Frances Cox McCulley. They were born in Virgina and migrated to Hopkins Co, KY in their youth with their parents. In 1952 he and his future brother-in-law, John Cox, hopped a flatboat to New Orleans and went to California to seek their fortune in the Gold Rush. He married Jane on 14 Jan 1857 in Hopkins Co, KY. They were the parents of two sons: Alanson and Ernest McCulley. Alanson became a farmer and merchant, Ernest became a scholar. ... show more
