He had siblings John Sheets, Frank Joseph Sheets, Charles (Chuck) Sheets, and Dennis Sheets. Joseph was baptized in 1932. He married Florence Fern Mosier Sheets on December 31, 1959 in Las Vegas, Clark County, NV, and they were married until Joseph's death on May 28, 1996. He had a child Elana Marie Sheets-Tedrick. Joseph Sheets was buried on June 1, 1996 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Cypress.
