Major General Sir Colin Halkett (1774-1856)
Sir Colin received many honors - Knighted by English Order of the Bath, GCB, GCH, a knight of numerous other orders, and Honorary General of the Hanoverian Service. His final rank was general.
Sir Colin's long and illustrious career included tours in Germany, Ireland, the Copenhagen Expedition, Sweden, Portugal and Spain (Peninsular Campaign), Waterloo where he was wounded 4 times, Commander-in-Chief at Bombay, India, Governor of the Isle of Jersey, and finally Governor of Chelsea Hospital in London where he is buried in an impressive grave.
