Pvt John Porterhouse Johns

John Porterhouse Johns was born abt 1830 in Ga. to Lewis Johns(1787-1812) & Nancy Ann Sanders (1790-1859). John served in the CSA Company C, 9th Fl Infantry. He was described in his enlistment certificate as 5'4", dark complexion, black hair and black eyes. His picture shows a stocky man of muscularbuild with mustache and beard with a confident demeanor. He is very well dressed for the time and especially as a POW. Blockade running was evidently very profitable.

He survived the war and died in Red Level, Citrus Co Fl in 1887. He married Jane Chritie in 1850 and apparently had no children with her. He married Elsie Johns in 1855.
