Pvt John Porterhouse Johns
John Porterhouse Johns was born abt 1830 in Ga. to Lewis Johns(1787-1812) & Nancy Ann Sanders (1790-1859). John served in the CSA Company C, 9th Fl Infantry. He was described in his enlistment certificate as 5'4", dark complexion, black hair and black eyes. His picture shows a stocky man of muscular build with mustache and beard with a confident demeanor. He is very well dressed for the time and especially as a POW. Blockade running was evidently very profitable.
