Robert H Kabrich

Youngest child of Joseph Edward Kabrich and Minnie Rose Harris Kabrich, Bob grew up in rural Christiansburg, VA. He played football for Christiansburg High School and lettered in the sport. Bob was drafted right out of high school in 1943 and spent nearly a year training for one of the biggest events of WWII - the Normandy Invasion. Bob served his country with honor, earning both a purple heart and a bronze star. He attended college at Va Tech, near his hometown, but his studies were interrupted when Uncle Sam called on him again to serve during the Korean Conflict. After completing this tour of duty, Bob went back to college using his GI Bill benefits. He also met his wife, got married, and together they had two children. Bob studied rural sociology at Va Tech and worked as a probation officer for Fairfax County, VA until his death in 1994. He always enjoyed VA Tech football, Redskins football, his children, his grandchildren, and square dancing. He was loved and respected by nearly everyone who knew him.
