This is my grandfather about the time he met my grandmother. He left Iowa with brother Nathan & cousin John. John stayed in Utah, Nathan in Arizona, and Samuel went to California (1850's). Samuel mined with William Barnes in Grass Valley, then bought a farm in Thermolands near Sheridan. He was a wheat farmer & hauled wheat to the mill in Grass Valley for Barnes Drayage, returning with sacks of flour.
