My maiden name is Dillard. I descend from a William Hannah m. to a Nancy Hannah (cousins), their daughter Margaret Hannah m. John Cochran(e),their son George Washington Cochran m. Sarah Jane Hudson, their son Christopher Columbus Cochran m. Izora(e)"Zoda" Jane Rector, their daughter Izora "Zoe,Zoda" Elizabeth Cochran m. James Walter Dillard, their son Thomas Lawson Dillard m. Willie Mae Cheely, they created me. There is reported Cherokee (and possibly Choctaw/Chickasaw) blood as far back as Cochran/Hannah, and Rectors of the same generation. Joseph Dillard m. "Milly" (on census)Vermillion. Could possibly be Molly. We cannot seem to find a definite, bonafide, link to the Native American blood lineage. We know that John Cochran and Margaret were listed on the Cherokee "1817 treaty for citizenship" in which they were issued a life reservee #147 on 11/10/1818. We, also, know that that same reservee was listed in the 1820 Tennessee Sheriff's Land Sale records. What they got for it is a ?. We think that they may have traded it for land in Northeastern Arkansas, as that is where they ended up in 1839 (removal) where their last daughter was born. There are many cousins running around out there all over the US. Would love to be able to connect the dots.
