Lt General Sir John Campbell in front of his tent, during the Crimean War. Standing next to him is his aide-de-camp, Captain Hume.

Sir John Campbell was the eldest son of John Campbell, Lt Governor of St Vincent 1845-53 and Hannah Elizabeth Macleod, the daughter of James Macleod, Esq., of Rasay. He married Catherine Syonia Sophia Cavie in 1867 and they had one son, John Bruce Stuart.

Diane Snider Lt. General Sir John Campbell was the son of Sir Archibald Campbell, First Baronet of New Brunswick and his wife, Lady Helen Macdonald. The info above regardng his parents is incorrect. He was killed in Sebastopol in 1855.
