William Buchanan and steam tractor
William Buchanan is the third man from the left, holding a pitchfork and next to the man leaning on the horse. He was born 15 June 1862 in Friendship, North Carolina, and died 9 November 1928 in Ottawa, Kansas. William Buchanan was the husband of Marelda A. Broadstreet, and they had two children: William Gurney and Beatrice Rema.

A wonderful picture, you are very lucky to have it. thank you for sharing. I too have Buchanan ancestors but from N.Y and Mih.
I've heard all about the wood fueled steam thrashers. They were also used in Oklahoma before statehood by the Choctaw Indians. They would transport them from farm to farm for harvesting the wheat and grain crops. Glad to get to see one.
