Pets - Our Past Companions

Updated: April 22, 2024
Pets are loved members of the household just like family. There's a reason our pets are often called our 'best friends'.

Remembering the companions of our ancestors and those that comforted us in the past. Dog person? Cat person? That's usually the debate when it comes to pets. As of 2022, 70% of U.S. households have pets. Of those, 69 million have dogs while 45.3 have cats.

And yet, there are also other popular pets such as fish, birds, rabbits, pigs, ferrets, hedgehogs, rodents (gerbils, hamsters, chinchillas, rats and guinea pigs), frogs, tarantulas, hermit crabs, snakes, horses, cows . . . the list goes on!

Pets can be a great addition to a growing family, or become your four legged "children". If you're a pet person, you know the value of your furry friends.

Looking at photos of our ancestors with their pets will sure make you smile - so consider this collection your serotonin boost for the day!
