Do you know who William's parents were. I am trying to locate Thomas Murray who fought in the Rev. War also. Below is the information I have:
Thomas Murray was a private in the American Revolution. He entered into service August 1776 in Westmoreland Co., PA. He served under Capt. Samuel Miller in the 8th Pennsylvania Regiment commanded by Colonel McCoy and then Colonel Broadhead, Lt. Colonel George Millson, and Major Richard Butler. He enlisted for 3 years and served out his time and obtained an honorable discharge from the service of the U.S. in 1779 at Fort Pitt, PA. He fought at the Battle of Benbrook, Battle of Brandywine and others. He was fighting under General Lincoln at the Battle of Benbrook when taken prisoner and remained prisoner for 7 or 8 months at which time he escaped and returned to his regiment.
Since he was from Philadelphia area did he register there even though he entered in Westmoreland Co. , Pa. I have a "Bright" that entered from Philadelphia and was in the 2nd Regiment, 112 , heavy artillery in the Civil War. I knew of Murray names that lived near Mont Clare, Chester or Montgomery Co.,Pa. Bobby and Nancy Murray lived on Black Rock Road, at the apartments, near Phoeniville, pa. Don't know if Murray picture you have is a relation to them. How did you obtain your Civil War picture of Murray?
