interesting cuffs. Do you know the significance?
"Liberty Cuffs" were not legal on the uniforms. These were privately tailored cuffs that when turned and buttoned down could not be seen. The when out on Liberty the men would "fancy up" and expose the intricate embroidery. If found out by superiors....there was punishment for "out of uniform." Fun, crazy sailor stuffisous. S.
