Dr James Lewis tintype
This photo of Dr. James Lewis is in the Lewis Family Bible. Dr James Lewis was the first doctor in Union County, Iowa 1855. He quarantined the town of Afton during an outbreak of smallpox and served as Union Co Coroner 1867-1869. He died January 14, 1878 and is buried in Greenlawn cemetary.
