Hollis Earp
Hollis Earp was the second daughter and last child born to S.N. and Nina Jones Earp. She was born on November 10, 1901 in Indian Territory. Her parents divorced around this time and Hollis didn't know her father. Once, when Hollis was playing in the yard,a man rode up on horseback and spoke to her for a while. Before he rode off, he gave her his Masonic ring. When she showed her mother the ring her mother told her that the man on the horse was her father. This may have been about the time S.N. Earp had decided to committ suicide.

Ancel Earp Jr. at Six Months
This is my father, Ancel Earp Jr. He was the son of Ancel and Lillian Tidnam Earp of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. His birthday was February 15, 1923. He is dressed in an outfit made by his mother and embroidered by his grandmother Tidnam. When my grandmother found out that she was expecting, she drove to where my grandfather proposed and put in the first stitches. My daughter wore the dress and underslip when she was baptised in 1978. She looked like a china baby doll in it.

Ancel Earp Jr. MD
Ancel Earp Jr. was the son of Ancel and Lillian Tidnam Earp. He was born on February 15, 1923 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was a graduate of Phillips Exeter Academy and the Univerity of Oklahoma Medical School. He was a General Surgeon and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. In 1964, he moved his family, wife: Marian Johnson, and children Frances Lee and Ancel Tidnam, to Fairbanks, Alaska. Until his retirement in 1988, he was associated with the Tannana Valley Medical and Surgical Clinic. After retirement, he and Marian moved back to the family home in Oklahoma City. He was a member of the Anglican Church of the Holy Cross. Ancel Earp Jr. died on June 5, 2003. He is missed.

The Gravestone of Granny Earp
This gravestone was commissioned by Lessie Hickey Goodner Tudor who was a great-great-granddaughter of Allen and Mary Stogsdill Earp. Lessie recieved donations from members of the family. The cemetery was the family cemetery of the Scott family. John Wesley Scott was the son-in-law of Granny Earp. She lived with him and her daughter, Ann, from sometime after the death of Allen until she died in 1888.

This picture of my great-grandfather was taken in Mclennan County, Texas when he was about ten years old. It is remarkable that we have it since we had lost contact with the branch of the family that had an original tintype.

Shedrick Newton Earp was born in Polk County, Arkansas on October 25, 1868. He was the last child of John Wesley and Linna White Earp. Linna died three days later. The family moved to Mclennan County, Texas. Shedrick married Nina Eloise Jones on August 23, 1886. Three of thir four children were born in Mclenna County; Thomas Emmet,Bessie Estelle,and Ancel. The family moved to the Chickasaw Nation, Indian Territory, Oklahoma and settled in what is now Carter County, Oklahoma. Their last child, a daughter, Hollis, was born in 1901. S.N. and Nina were divorced about 1901. Shedrick drank carbolic acid in a cafe in Oklahoma City and died on March 8, 1908. He is buried near Gene Autry, Carter County, Oklahoma. His gravestone says "Pioneer Doctor". It was placed in the 1960s by his children.

Lenora, or Peg as most who knew her called her, lived her married life with her husband Robert William Earp (1903-1976) in Wenona, IL. They were married July 2, 1927. As a wedding gift, her sister & my grandmother, Catherine Mary (Soulsby) Gall Brems gave her a beautiful pearled turquoise tea pot with sugar bowl and creamer, which I now have. She was extremely talented; known locally as a author, and a artist. Before she married she was already putting pen to paper, and wrote a column for the Wenona Index called 'Peg Tales' which spoke about her view of family life per the time with a humorous, & relatable edge. It was quite popular at that time.
And, although she never was trained in art (mostly paintings and drawings) she was quite well known for her talent, designing their sequencial quilt blocks for a quilt for the event, as well as designing placemats for the restaurants that would feed many attending the event from out of town. The placemats had a map of the area, and were designed to aide the out-of-towners in getting around for the event. Our family still holds 2 of those placemats. She was also well known for her artwork (drawings) which she did for a family history book called, 'Old Sandy Remembers. 2 of the 4 full page sketches she'd done for the book are hanging in the Wenona Bond Public Library to this day, along with 2 other paintings she'd done. Although she never had children of her own, she was extremely family-oriented, and many of her ideas came from her own life. She had a very old photo of her mother Mary Reid (McDonald) Soulsby taken when she was about 20 years old. Peg did a oil painting of that photo, approx same size as original photo, which is lovely. Our family has this painting as well. In 1964, she also painted 'Tea Time' in which she included the tea set her sister had given her as a wedding gift, and which I have (along with tea set). My parents had both the painting, and the tea set since my grandmother & her sister passed, but they'd never realized that the tea set they had of her's was same one in painting. When it was passed to me, I realized this while gazing over what had been passed down to me now. So exciting!
Other art she'd done and our family holds are a lithograph she'd done called 'Receet for Warshin Cloes', and a beautiful charcoal pastel landscape painting which includes a wonderful triple arched stone bridge. I'm sure that bridge must have been somewhere in Illinois, but I've yet to locate it.
She was very giving, by nature, and headed nearly every blood drive in that area right up until a few years of her passing. I am her grand niece, and sadly, I never knew her while she was alive. In researching our family history, I've gotten to know my ancestors, & feel anchored to them, with so much respect for them, and their stories.

My mother, Mildred Lee Earp King, was born in 1921, August 20. She was the oldest child of Dexter and Carrie Mae Helms Earp. She learned how to help with household chores, take care of newborn babies when her parents brought another one home. There were many siblings...Shirley Jane Earp who married R D Helms. Jeanette Twelvetree Earp who married Jackson Wayne Rushing. Willie Mae Earp who married Bert Herr. Dorothy Earp who married Wayne Williams, Harold Earp who married Dorothy Helms. Cecil Earp who married Margaret.Ruth Earp who married Carrol Little, divorced after 3 children. Then Ruth had 3 more children. Brenda Earp who married and had 3 boys, divorced. Margaret Earp who married Don Hewitt, had 3 children, then Don died. She married Dean...who died. One brother, Earl Earp, died at an early age.
Mildred's grandfather was Harrison Earp.
