Seyed Javad Afsharzadeh
Seyed/Joey, identified as Persian, he left Iran for the United States. Seyed told his first wife, Terry (Flucard/Afsharzadeh) Poncé, that when he came to America he knew three words: Yes, No, & Chico. Seyed was attending Butte Community College when he and Terry spotted each other. On a Monday in 1970, Terry told her friends she was going to marry Seyed before she even met him, he was in the library a few tables away. They looked at each and smiled. The following days they smiled at one another as Seyed sat a table closer. On Friday, Seyed asked Terry, “Is okay I sit here?” Terry smiled and said, “Of course”, Seyed took a seat directly across from her. Seyed told Terry, his American name was Joe. Terry asked if she could call him Joey. On February 12, 1871, Seyed/Joey and Terry married. Seyed taught Terry how to make Persian Stew and Persian Rice. Their marriage did not last long. Seyed’s uncles Big Mohammad, Little Mohammad, and Hosein came and told Seyed he had duties as an oldest son to his dying mother. Seyed and Terry divorced in 1973. Seyeed often wrote letters back to Terry addressed to Sweet Terry. Joey had wanted to return, he waited ten years for his mother to pass, before he remarried. Seyed passed away in 1986.
