Terry Lynn (Flucard) Ponce of Chico, California United States was born on October 17, 1951 at Enloe Medical Center 1531 Esplanade, in Chico, Butte County to John Edward Flucard Jr. and Merridy Rae (Yarbrough) Flucard. Terry Ponce had siblings Connie LaNelle (Flucard) Bearden McNiel, Marion Gaye (Flucard) Eaton, Guy Edward Oren Flucard, and Joni Rae (Flucard) Simanjuntak. She married Seyed Javad Afsharzadeh on February 12, 1971 in Reno, Washoe County, Nevada and they later divorced. She was the parent of Yoseb Ali Jahan Afsharzadeh, Eric Anthony Grant, David Javier Afsharzadeh, Heather Rae Lelandra (Magallanes) Lomas, and Jennifer Marie Darlene (Poncé) Din. Terry Ponce died at age 68 years old on May 9, 2020 at Enloe Medical Center 1531 Esplanade, in Chico, CA, and was buried on July 11, 2020 at Cremated in Chico.

    Terry graduated from the 12th grade in June 1969 from Chico Senior High School. Terry attended Butte College on and off for several years, while she had her children. She attended California State University Chico. Terry graduated in 1996 with a BA in Liberal Arts.

  • Professional Career

    Terry’s dream was being a teacher, she loved working with children. She was a teacher, she did substitute work for Chico Unified School District. She liked working at elementary schools, especially Four Winds Indian Education, Chapman Elementary. She ran a day care business and cared for her oldest grandson, Yoseb, extended family from her home on 1216 Jackson St, Chico, CA. Throughout the years she had other office jobs, as clerical, data entry.

    Terry Lynn Poncé was the third child born to John Edward and Merridy Rae Flucard on October 17, 1951, at Enloe Hospital. Terry passed away at the age of 68 on May 9, 2020, at Enloe Hospital. Middle of five children, she is survived by her three sisters Connie McNeil, Gaye Eaton, Joni Flucard-Simanjutak and brother Guy Flucard. Terry is also survived by her sons Jahan Afsharzadeh, David Afsharzadeh, and Eric Grant and two daughters Heather Lomas and Jennifer Din. Terry was an avid reader, very creative in her writing and arts, and had a delightful sense of humor. She graduated from California State University, Chico with a Bachelors of Arts in Liberal Studies in May 1995 and held a teaching credential. Terry enjoyed creating works of arts through crochet, cross stitch, embroidery, and quilting. Terry held her nieces and nephews, extended family, friends and acquaintances dear to her heart. Terry loved babies and children, especially her grandchildren Kyla, Yoseb, Maia, Antonio, Abdurrahman, Muhammad, Juan, Umar, Eric, Aaliyah, Amara, Jessica, and JahZeal. She would often try and welcome the new children in the family with a quilted blanket. Terry will be missed, but her loving memory will forever remain. Services are will be held on July 11, 2020, at 2:00pm at Newton-Bracewell Chico Funeral Home.
