Augustus Harry Carver
I have an old studio photograph identified as A. H. CARVER which was taken at the Bogardus Studio in New York City, NY. The photograph was taken some time in the 1880's, most likely while the subject was a student at the Union Theological Seminary in New York City. I believe that this is a photograph of Augustus Harry CARVER who was a member of the Class of 1884 at the Seminary.
Based on limited research I was able to locate the following information regarding Augustus and his family:
Reverend Augustus H. CARVER was b. 6 Sept 1854 in Pennsylvania to parents James CARVER and Susan G. HELWIG (1829-1917) who were married about 1854. Augustus had one brother, Charles C. CARVER (b. 1858). Augustus married Maude E. SCHOTT (1856-1945) in 1884. The couple had three children including Augustus Harry Jr.; Mary Genevieve; and Kenneth James CARVER, all born between 1887 and 1895. Augustus died 2 Jul 1923 in Edgerton, MN and he is buried in the Maplewood Cemetery in Luverne, MN.
