Meredith Childress (variants Childres, Childreth) was likely the son of a Native American (Saponi) woman and Creed Childress b ca 1746 Goochland VA. If not Native American by blood, then certainly by adoption & marriage with Goings (Saponi). He married the daughter of Aggy and Moses Going Sr, Mary Going, Saponi, 23 Dec 1791 Henrico VA. He was mentioned and named executor in the 1803 Henrico VA will of his wife's maternal grandfather David Going Sr, along with his wife's brother David - son of Moses Sr but known as David Jr for his grandfather. It does not appear he ever claimed the KY land rec'd for his military service (200 acres). Meredith Childress was surety for the 1795 marriage of his wife's sister Anne Going to Dudley Minor, and witness at his brother Patrick's 1797 marriage to his wife's sister Nancy Going, in Henrico VA.
Patrick Childress married Nancy Going (variant Goyne) Henrico VA 12 Dec 1797. Patrick and Nancy married with consent of her mother Aggy Goyne; his brother Meredith Childress attested to Patrick's age, and Dudley Minor, husband of Nancy's sister Anne, was witness to consent and surety. My Last Photo Received
My daddy wanted a Harley his entire life. Right before he was killed, he sent this picture in a letter describing his pure and utter joy of riding in the very front of the poker run (or bike run) .. until his bike had an issue and he lost his place. He said he was torn up but still loved every minute of it!! He even described the joy he felt when the wind hit his face.

Unknown Doughboy
I found this photo among my aunt's things and don't know who he is. It could be her husband who was in WWI but it doesn't look like him. The photo is stamped with the location information above. My aunt was Edith Miller from Bonham, Texas b. 1899 and her mother's family is Childress, so I suspect this is someone from the Childress family. Obviously he was a Doughboy and after the war went to the Fort Smith, Arkansas area, as Belmont was a town there but I cannot find the town any longer.

my nan emigrated to the us in 1912 she was living in Detroit and married a Charles childress on or around 1915.
charles was the adopted son of john childress occupation butcher.
my nans maiden name was witham.
they were married for five years and had 3 children dorothy charles and
charles snr died on Christmas day 1920 or around that time there was an article written in the local paper as he was burnt when his Santa suite caught fire he died of his injury's
my nan returned to England some time after this
if any one has any further information or photos
