I have this picture from my mom's candy tin after she passed away. It has 2 men in uniform from WW1. On the back it says Harlow or Harlan An. Fortner. I am guessing one man is Harlan and one is named Fortner. Don't know who they are. The tall man kind of favors me some.
I have noticed that old writing from the early 1900's has the n's really being w's. I noticed this on my mom's birth record when my grandmother signed her name. The o's and a's are hard to tell the difference on too.

A photo of my mom Bonnie Lucille Fortner and a soldier named Homer. His last name is not known for sure. But from writing on the back his name may have been Homer Hollingsworth and was in Nashville,Tenn. in May 1943 when this picture was taken. Just the first 5 letters of his last name are known for sure. It was taken at 4th Avenue Studio Nashville,Tn. May 1943. One of his family may have been named Herman Hollingsworth and lived at 1709 Hayes St. in Nashville,Tenn. Trying to find out how he is related to my family or if he was a family friend.

A photo of a soldier (Benjamin Aunspaw) and my mom Bonnie Lucille Fortner who passed on in 1995 here in Indiana. We came from Tennessee and I believe this picture may have been taken in Nashville,Tn. and has the date of 1946 on the back but no name for the soldier.
He may be a relative? Or a friend. It looks like it was taken at a studio or maybe a dance. There are more of my mom with this same scenery behind her. Need to find out who he is.

We know the tall man is Bernard (Bud) Fortner, in his 20's, with a smaller man sitting down holding a baby. Probably around 1930 is a good guess. Anyone recognize the man ? My cousin thinks the man sitting is Bud's dad John Fortner born 1874 and the baby is her my cousin Marie Fortner Bud's daughter.

My great grandfather John William Fortner born Sept. 4,1873 and born in Tennessee married a lady Lizzie Rochelle in the 1890's. They had nine children, one boy Harvey died at about 2 years old. They eventually had 8 children living and one that died for a total of 9 children. In 1914 John Fortner went to town probably riding a horse and was never seen again. My great grandmother Lizzie took all his possessions and burned them in the fireplace, pictures everything. We had thought maybe some one killed him and threw him in Duck River in Centerville,TN. but he was seen years later in ALa. and Miss. He met a lady name Sallie Barefoot the widow of J.J. Barefoot and they were joined in some knid of Indian ceremony. She was Chickasaw we believe. This was probably around 1920 or so. Any one have any information about John or Sallie and if they had any children e-mail me. Anyone ever met him I would like to talk to them as I have a picture taken in MO. that may be him with his son Bernard Fortner. Lee Fortner

Looking for information on a John Fortner born Sept. 4, 1873 In tennessee from the Dickson County Tn. 1880 Census. In the 1900 census from Tenn. it lists John Fortner's mother as it looks like Freasy Fortner. But it is actually Theresa Fortner his foster mother who adopted him with her husband.Looking for who his real father and mother were. The 1880 census says his father was born in Ga. His mother it says was born in Tenn. He may have been called John W. Tatum when he was adopted. His adopted parents were Charles D.Fortner born 1838 and Theresa Parris born 1844.
