Kenneth Hummel My name is Kenneth Hummel son of Willam Adell Hummel and Cheryl Sprecher.I was born in Baltimore,Maryland in Franklin Square Hospital.I grew up however in a town outside of Baltimore called Essex. Both my grandfathers were of german descent and one whose name was Carl Sprecher served in world war 2 in the navy.My other grandfather Bill Hummel was a mariner at heart and loved to fish.Soon after I was born my mother and father went there seperate ways and i seen little of my father and eventually nothing at all.My mother married another man who I call father today and my family history seemed to fade away and all I had left to trace my past was my last name.As I grew older I was offered to change my name and I refused. When I went to high school at Chesapeake High School there was a young girl who I spoke to occasionally in the hall. Her name was Tammy and she was younger than me and I was in the 11th grade and she was a freshman. One day while on my way to the lunch room Tammy asked for a moment of my time. She quickly explained to me that she thought she was my sister offering her last name as proof, curious I told her that I would ask my mother to investigate.I rushed home to ask my mother if there was any truth to what she was saying .My mother had confided in me that she had known the whole time but wanted me to find out when I was old enough to understand. At first I did not know how to feel but then I developed a strong relationship with my sister and found I had another sister and a brother.I have only met my two sister's the other ones name is Renee Hummel and my brother I have not met or got to even find his name,so my search continues.I've not seen any of my sister's and unfortunately my father has died two years ago. This is the reason it's good to have places were people of the same linage can share stories of the different paths that our family tree has taken and each story takes us in different directions,we can all see how much our name ties us together even though life pulls us in apart.
