Gene grew up in Monahans were he made lifelong friends. When he was born he only weighed 2 lbs. He had severe club feet. His mother made many trips taking him back and forth to Dallas Texas on the train for treatment. He wore braces until he was around 11. His Mom and his friends called him Genesis when he was a little boy. Gene married Billie Lou Michell on July 24, 1954 at FBC Monahans, Texas. They were married for 53 years. Billie Lou passed away in 2007. He married Peggy Classen in 2008.
