I was told a story about cousin and I. We were about 3 yrs old. Our grandparents lived surrounded by fruit groves on 3 sides of their home. My cousin and i heard what we thought was a woman screaming. We took off into the orange grove to see if we could find her. Our daddy's came after us and hen they found us, told us not to go back into the grove. Well being 3 yrs old, we couldn't understand why. We heard the screaig again, so back we went. That time we got spanked by daddy. I kept repeating over and over but that lady is screaming daddy. He told me "that is NO lady screaming," that is a panther screaming. They knew how close we two were by her screaming, cause it got louder and worse. Late that night, our daddy's went out there and shot her....She was longer than the bed of the truck. Now that I'm in my 40's, I can sure undertstand why I got that whipping.
