Priscilla Hobson Way
I've got two old photographs belonging to the WAY Family of Pennsylvania. The first is one of Caleb WAY which was taken at the R. Steinebach Studio in Philadelphia, PA. The second is a photograph of Priscilla WAY taken at the same studio. The two photographs were likely taken in the 1860's or 1870's with the couple likely in their 30's or 40's at the time the photographs were taken. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding the couple:
Caleb Pugh WAY was b. 4 Mar 1824 or 11 Aug 1824 in Kennett Square, PA to parents Joshua WAY (1796-1881) and Sidney HUTTON (1800-1849) who were married in 1820. Caleb was one of 10 children born to this couple including Alban or Alben Ammor; Edwin Fussell; Thomas H.; Caleb Pugh; Husan; Susan; Hiett; William Hiett or Hiet; Emma; and Emmer or Emmor H. WAY, all born between 1821 and 1840. Caleb married Priscilla HOBSON (1832-1924) on 30 Oct 1851 in West Chester, PA and the couple had 6 children including Florence Sidney; Josephine Hobson; Mary Jane “Jennie”; Annie Maude; Maude; and Benjamin Hiett WAY, all born between 1853 and 1869. Caleb died 1 Aug 1871 in Kennett Square, PA and is buried in the Union Hill Cemetery in Kennett Square, PA.

Priscilla was one of 7 children born to this couple including Priscilla; Josephine; Frank J.; Elizabeth; Mary Jane; John Edgar; and Laura HOBSON, all born between 1832 and 1850. Priscilla died 14 Aug 1924 in Red Bank, NJ and is buried along with her husband in the Union Hill Cemetery in Kennett Square, PA. At the time of her death, she was living with her daughter Maude W. ELY in Red Bank, NJ. Her obituary also listed other children surviving her including Mrs. Josephine MCKEEVER of McKeesport, PA; a sister Mrs. Jennie RAKESTRAW of Christiantl, PA; and brothers John E. HOBSON of Texas; and Frank J. HOBSON of Chicago, IL.

Joanna Marie Demas was born August 1, 1961 in Berwyn, Illinois to Lily Anagnostou Demas and Dr. Theodore Demas. Her mother was an opera singer while her father practiced medicine. She lived in the Chicago area where she skipped kindergarten and started school as a first grader. In 1971 she moved with her family to Lake City, Florida. Joanna excelled in school where she attended Columbia High School. She maintained excellent grades-she was a National Merit Scholar and a member of Phi Beta Kappa. She graduated high school in 1978 and then went on to the University of Florida where she majored in Chemistry. She graduated from there in 1980 and then attended the University of Miami Medical School where she met her first husband. They would later move to Columbus, Ohio where they both practiced medicine. She and her first husband would later divorce when she became unhappy with her marriage.
Her father wanted all his children to be doctors but Joanna was the only one to realize that dream. She would often treat the uninsured and needy and advocated for the use of medical marijuana before the Ohio State Legislature. She also loved animals and was a vegetarian.
Medicine wasn't her first love. She wanted to act and be a musician. She even had a small role in an independent film in which she played a waitress that was fascinated with guns called My New Advisor. Besides acting she also did some modeling. She appeared in a G. Gordon Liddy's Stacked and Packed calendar. She also appeared in two issues of Playboy in 1992-the first doctor to ever do so. It caused quite a stir at the time!
Joanna loved rock music and frequented the various rock and roll venues around Columbus where she became friendly with quite a few of the band members who played at them. In 1995 she met Pete Way, bassist for the English hard rock band UFO. They would later marry in 1996 and stayed married until her untimely death in 2000 from a drug overdose.
Sydney Edward Way was a very highly respected and kind gentleman. He married a lady whose name was Julia Clara Dunstone who was born in Terowie in South Australia. However, they lived in Carlton, Victoria and produced three children. Their names were Edward Henry Way, born in 1904, Thelma and Jessie. The two daughters were both born after Edward.
Edward Way married Elizabeth Mary Tyrrell (born 1906) on 8th April, 1939 at St.Luke's Church of England, North Fitzroy and they produced one child whose name was Noelle Carolynn Way, born 1942. Noelle married Terence Dorgan on 24th April 1965 at St.Thomas' Church of England in Moonee Ponds. Two children were born to Noelle and Terence. Their names Paul Andrew Dorgan born 26th April, 1968 (unmarried as at 2023) and Lorelle Dorgan born 15th October, 1971. Lorelle married Michael Ellis in 1998 at Bundoora Chapel, Bundoora and they produced two sons, Leigh Brenton Ellis, born 30th October, 1999 and Blake Andrew Ellis, born 17th May, 2003. Lorelle and Michael divorced in 2004 and later she married David Andrew Tebbet and they produced one daughter, Lara Ashlee Tebbet born on 17th November, 2008.
Thelma Way, Sydney's second child, married Ronald Wood and produced two children, Ronald Edward Wood and Glenys May Wood. Ronald married Maureen McCarthy in the late 1960's and produced two sons, Alan and Peter Wood. Glenys Wood married John McNabb during the late 1960's and produced one son, Andrew and one daughter Suzi, who married a man from South Africa and they produced two daughters. They went to England to live. As at 2023, Andrew was unmarried and has lived in Hong Kong for most of his adult life. Glenys died from Cancer in September 2021.
Jessie Way, Sydney's third child married Frank Mackie. Jessie died in child birth as did the baby in 1942.

Priscilla was one of 7 children born to this couple including Priscilla; Josephine; Frank J.; Elizabeth; Mary Jane; John Edgar; and Laura HOBSON, all born between 1832 and 1850. Priscilla died 14 Aug 1924 in Red Bank, NJ and is buried along with her husband in the Union Hill Cemetery in Kennett Square, PA. At the time of her death, she was living with her daughter Maude W. ELY in Red Bank, NJ. Her obituary also listed other children surviving her including Mrs. Josephine MCKEEVER of McKeesport, PA; a sister Mrs. Jennie RAKESTRAW of Christiantl, PA; and brothers John E. HOBSON of Texas; and Frank J. HOBSON of Chicago, IL.
