In the 1920 federal census, George and Mary were married with 3 children. He was working as a miner in a coal mine in Independence, Washington county, Pennsylvania.
According to George's "Declaration of Intention" on April 21, 1926, George was working as a miner and was 33 years of age. He was White, had a dark complexion, was 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighed 188 pounds, had dark brown hair, brown eyes, and had a scar on his forehead. He was born in Cibawa "Czecho Slovakia" (sic) as was his wife, Mary. He sailed from Hamburg Germany to the US (he didn't know the name of the ship).
In the 1930 federal census, George was 38 years old and married to Mary. They were living in Ambridege, Beaver county, Pennsylvania, with their 3 children: George (14), Mary (12), and John (10). George's parents were both born in Austria and he was a naturalized citizen. He was working as a laborer at "Steel Struct Co" They were renting their home.
By the 1949 census, George was still married to Mary and besides his 3 children, son-in-law Andrew Sheffo was living with the family. They owned their house in Ambridge PA and George was working as a "Buck Up" in a steel mill. He had completed 6th grade. Son John was a spot welder in a steel mill and son-in-law Andrew was a laborer in a steel mill.
