Jane Eliza Goldby 1866 - 1921 Ballarat, Vic, Australia

Eliza Jane Murray was born in 1866 to Mary Murray daughter of Edward Murray and his wife Ann (Hanson). Edward and Ann immigrated from paisley Scotland in August of 1852 on the 'flora' to Point Henry Victoria and settled at Ballarat Victoria. Mary was about 3 years old when her parents immigrated and also had a sister Margaret Armour Murray an infant...A further daughter Ann was born in Geelong Victoria. Mary gave birth to Eliza Jane Murray in 1866 ...From family stories she may have been raised my Marys parents....Mary went on to marry James Wells whose father and mother were Thomas and Rebecca Wells who came out on the Harpley to Adelaide as part of the 'Lace makers of Calais immigrants... Eliza married Edward Goldby and had 3 children. One child was William Edward who was killed in action at Picardie (Fromelles) France on 19.7.1916 aged 20years..He is listed on the Wall of Honour at V.C.Corner Australian Cemetery and Memorial, Fromelles. There is no grave.
